CUBG is renowned for its plants, but looking more closely reveals an under-recorded wealth of wildlife in intimate relationships with these plants, using them for food and shelter and manipulating them in often astonishing ways. In this talk, Sam Buckton introduces the fascinating ecology of gall-causers and leaf-miners, and describes a selection of species discovered in the Garden through detailed surveys over the last few years.
Science on Sundays
A programme of free, informal, monthly science talks bringing the latest discoveries in plant science, as well as research linked to the plant collection at CUBG, to our visitors in a 30 minute nutshell.
We will be running these talks as online webinars for those at home, and also screening the talks live from the Botanic Garden Classroom for those visiting the the Garden on the day.
