Set in our beautiful landscape, the Festival of Plants celebrates the wonder of plants when the Garden is in full bloom.

A fun-filled, fact-finding day out with something for everyone to enjoy: from gardeners to budding plant scientists; families to photographers or anyone looking to spend an interesting day in the Garden when it is is brimming with summer colour.

Highlights include:

🌸 A variety of free, guided Garden tours (bookable on the day).  Download the tour list here

🌸 Pop-up, family-friendly interactive plant science stalls where University researchers demonstrate some of the latest findings from the world of plant science.

🌸 ‘Ask-the-Gardener’ panel of experts on hand to deal with your garden dilemmas.

🌸 10-minute, bite-size talks about a range of exciting and innovative plant-related topics.

🌸 Specialist plants stalls.

🌸 Children’s craft activities.

🌸 Live music and pop-up food trucks.

We will also be launching a special photography competition with the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) on the day. This free-to-enter special competition ‘The Colours of Cambridge University Botanic Garden’ will be open to all our adult visitors and run over the summer. It is the second IGPOTY run photo competition to be dedicated to CUBG and we hope will continue the success of this year’s competition.
