Accessibility

Most of the Botanic Garden is accessible without steps or stairs, with the exception of some heritage features.

Parking and access by vehicle
There is no public car park at the Garden. There is limited pay and display parking on nearby Trumpington Road and Bateman Street. See Cambridge City Council’s parking map for car park information.

Taxi, car or minibus drop off can take place at Brookside Gate. Please note there is no easy place to park or drop off at the Station Road Gate.

Electric scooters and manual wheelchairs
These are available to borrow free of charge at both the Brookside Gate and Station Road Gate. Pre-booking is recommended. Please telephone 01223 336265 during our Monday-Friday office hours (9am-1pm / 2-4pm) or by email specifying which gate you would like to collect from and how long you anticipate needing the scooter or wheelchair.

Our site
Brookside Gate is fitted with a low-level counter.

Path surfaces are mostly gravel and there are large stretches of lawn with sloped paving ramps to allow access.

There are benches at regular intervals around the Garden and wheelchair accessible picnic tables in most of the picnic areas.

Our buildings
The Café and Glasshouse Range are fitted with automatic doors. Please note the Glasshouse Range is a heritage feature with narrow paths and corridors. The Tropics House has some bark paths that are not suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Accessible toilets
There are accessible toilets behind the Glasshouses, in the Café and at the Brookside Gate.

Assistance dogs
Registered guide and assistance dogs are welcome in the Botanic Garden.

Booking tickets
It is no longer necessary to pre-book tickets and we welcome cash or card upon arrival. If you would prefer to pre-book, you can do so online.

Please call +44 (0) 1223 336265 if you have any questions, we will be delighted to help plan your visit.
