Covered in pea-like flowers this shrub can be found in the Terrace Garden.
Many New Zealand species have evolved to have small, discreet leaves, or none at all, and Notospartium glabrescens falls into this latter category. It is one of only three species, all of which occur in valleys and river terraces on the South Island. Slender, slightly flattened stems arch elegantly to display racemes of purple-flushed, pink flowers. Although fully hardy, this species requires a sheltered, sunny position.
