The purple-tinged panicles of this ornamental grass add valuable texture and late season interest to the Streamside plantings.
One of approximately 20 species of perennial grass from Africa to east Asia, Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’ is a widely admired selection for the garden. It is valued for its arching foliage, erect flower stems, and soft, feathery inflorescence of silky spikelets. As the flowers age they take on silvery tints, and ‘Flamingo’ will continued to provide interest throughout winter. This hybrid was raised by the renowned twentieth century German nurseryman Ernst Pagels. It is tolerant of most conditions, though favours fertile, moist soils in full sun.
