This striking ivy brings seasonal colour to the Winter Garden.
One of 22 species of Hedera, H. colchica is a vigorous species from the Caucasus and northern Iran, hence the common name Persian ivy. ‘Dentata-Variegata’ is a highly ornamental selection. The heart-shaped leaves have grey-green markings edged with a creamy-white, and can be up to 12cm in length. This is a self-clinging species, producing aerial roots along the stems, which makes it a good choice for covering a wall, though it makes an equally good ground cover specimen, and is particularly successful on chalky, or alkaline, soils. It produces large, spherical umbels of nectar-rich flowers in autumn.
