The skeletal forms of Fibigia clypeata are revealing their flattened fruits on the Mediterranean Beds.
Fibigia clypeata is a member of the cabbage family (Brassicaceae), and as other members of the family, it has 4 petals arranged in a cross shape. Occurring throughout the eastern Mediterranean F. clypeata is a biennial species growing in rocky habitats up to 1,000m in altitude. Reaching 60cm in height this species bears small yellow flowers in summer which have limited ornamental impact. During the winter the felted silvery stems and seed pods provide interest, while the flattened elliptic fruits are revealed in the dehiscent seed pods.
