The attractive flowers, with their flushed outer tepals, of this late summer stalwart are an eye-catching feature of the Autumn Garden.
Growing to 120cm in height the herbaceous Anemone x hybrida ‘Robustissima’ produces umbels of soft pink flowers whose tepal backs are flushed with a striking deeper pink. The flowers emerge on stiff stems from a mound of palmate toothed leaves, and sway to great effect in a gentle breeze. All the Japanese anemones are renowned for their vigourous, spreading via rhizomes. As the cultivar name ‘Robustissima’ suggests, this one is no exception, thriving in full sun and semi-shade in humus-rich soil. One of many Japanese anemone cultivars, A. x hybrida ‘Robustissima’ reliably delivers floral impact in late summer and well into autumn.
