This eye-catching species brings late floral interest to the Systematic Beds.
A member of the Scrophulariaceae family, Alonsoa warscewiczii is one of approximately 12 species within the genus Alonsoa. The ovate to lance-shaped, toothed, dark green leaves emerge from angular, reddish stems. The scarlet-orange flowers are spurred, and bring a splash of brilliant colour to the garden in the autumn. This is a Peruvian native, which is readily propagated from cuttings.
