We are the custodian of nine National Plant Collections® registered with Plant Heritage (formerly The National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens). These collections were among the earliest to be designated in 1981 and the Botanic Garden remains one of the largest collection holders in this scheme.
The National Collections range from species tulips and fritillaries to unusual shrubs, like the Shrubby Lonicera. Many of our National Collections have developed out of research work undertaken here and are rich in wild-sourced material.
