During his time as Taxonomist here at the Garden Dr Peter Yeo’s research was primarily focussed on the genus Geranium, and this striking hybrid was one of the garden-worthy specimens he raised.
A hybrid between Geranium clarkei and G. pratense, this plant was named by Dr Yeo after the Garden’s office building, 1 Brookside. It is a valuable border plant, having violet blue flower wth a white eye, and reddish veining through the petals. Flowering in June and July, and growing to a height of up to 60 cms, it benefits from being cut back after flowering to encourage a second flush of late season flowers.
