Located at the eastern end of the Glasshouse Range is a spectacular Cork Oak, Quercus suber, displaying its remarkable, characteristic, corky bark. Despite its reputation for poor growth in England, this tree is a very fine specimen, mature, spreading and remaining consistently evergreen throughout all but the very coldest Cambridge winters.

A hybrid offspring, the Fulham Oak, Quercus × hispanica, is close-by. This hybrid inherited the rapid growth rate of one parent, the Turkey Oak, Quercus cerris, but also the thickly fissured bark and evergreen foliage and form of Quercus suber.
